Dear Parents (CROCS),
In these unprecedented and difficult times, the support and involvement of parents in school is critical!
The Island Creek Elementary School (ICES) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is holding its first meeting of the 2020-2021 school year virtually on Tuesday, 15 September at 7PM. Our elections for the 2020-2021 PTA board will be held during this meeting. Please use the following link to attend:
We have identified volunteers for the President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Vice President positions. However, we are asking for additional volunteers to serve as Vice Presidents to ensure a strong PTA that can fully support a robust learning environment. We are seeking volunteers with a wide range of skills and interests. The newly elected board will meet to assign roles and responsibilities best aligned to the interests of volunteers. We anticipate board activities will require a couple hours per week on average.
Volunteering for the PTA board is a great way to get involved with the school and your child’s education, and an important contribution to the school and local community.
Please contact Richard Aviles to express interest at
Thank you very much for supporting the children of Island Creek Elementary School!
PTA Board
The first ICES PTA meeting of the 2020-2021 school year will take place on Tuesday, September 15th at 7 PM. Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, PTA meetings will continue to be virtual for now. Please use the following link to attend:
We want to use this meeting to welcome everyone back, but also to hold board elections. All board positions are up for election. If you want to throw your name in the hat, please let us know. Of note, we need to establish quorum for elections so please consider joining us.
While we might be virtual for the next few months, it does not mean your PTA will not be hard at work supporting our students, teachers/staff, parents, and our community. Consider joining us as we take the lemons 2020 has given us and we make lemonade.
Thank you for the support.

School Supply Kits

Get a head start on the 2020-21 school year by pre-purchasing your child’s school supplies!

Your child’s teacher has identified the personal and community school supplies needed for a successful year. In cooperation with the Island Creek PTA, Campus Survival Kits has assembled a Kit of all necessary supplies for one low price! Avoid the stores and get all the supplies you need!

  • You’ll receive a complete set of the exact supplies identified by your child’s teacher. All brands, sizes, colors and styles have been designated by your child’s teacher.
  • Your child’s personal supplies will be delivered in a custom Island Creek Elementary drawstring backpack. (delivery will be made to the school in August. Alternate arrangements will be made in the case of extended distance learning)
  • The items identified as community supplies (tissues, wipes, etc.) will be delivered directly to your child’s teacher for easy collection and storage.
  • Your child’s personal supplies will be pre-labeled per the specific instructions provided by the teacher (if applicable).

  • Based on the number of students who purchase a Kit, your child’s school will receive FREE refills on select items in January. That means the more parents who purchase a Kit now, the fewer requests parents will receive for more supplies during the year!

Holiday Shop & Vendor Fair

On Saturday, December 7, 2019, from 10 AM -1 PM, the cafeteria will be transformed into a shopping experience for even our youngest students.

This is an Island Creek favorite! Students, with the help of volunteers, will be able to purchase gifts and have them wrapped on site, keeping things a secret!

Hot cocoa and candy canes will be provided for all those who participate. This is not a fundraiser! The PTA earns no money – we pass on inexpensive prices to you as a service event. Bring your kiddos and help them learn about gift giving and budgeting.

We will also be holding a holiday market for adults in attendance. While your kids are shopping in the holiday shop, why not check off your gift list with items from local businesses?

Fliers and budget envelopes will be sent home closer to the event.

* Interested vendors:  click here to find out how to participate in this exciting event!

A couple of quick reminders/updates as we’re getting used to the new online submissions.

  • Do you use a grocery delivery/pick up service? You can still submit box tops! Just forward the receipt to The receipt must be forwarded from the email address associated with your already-created Box Tops account, so they know which school to credit!

Head over to our Box Tops page for more information and a step-by-step guide to using the app!

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact AID

Beginning on October 21, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers. For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child’s school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.
