Son Plus One Sock Hop

Get ready to twist, shout and shake it all about at the Son Plus One Sock Hop! 

You must register by February 8 (please note the extended deadline due to inclement weather) for the PTA Son Plus One Sock Hop (Feb. 22) from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the ICES Gym. Cost is $10 for couple (son + 1 adult), $2 each additional son.  You provide the swinging dance moves, we’ll provide pizza, drinks, dessert, DJ & photographer!  Come dressed in your best 1950’s outfit or come casual, just come ready to have fun!

Hawk Pantry

The Hawk Pantry needs your help!

The Hawk Pantry provides instant lunch meals, healthy snacks, school supplies and toiletry items for students in need. Due to the recent government shutdown, the number of students using the pantry has drastically increased. Many students, who use the pantry, rely on the food provided through this service.

In order for the pantry to continue to provide this service, we need your help.  We created an Amazon wish list with items needed.  If you would like to donate through this site, you can order off the list and have items sent directly to the school (be sure to choose Hawk Pantry address for delivery). If you are considering donating, and would rather pick up items at your local grocery store, there will be a box inside the front office where you can drop off your items during normal business hours.  The pantry is in need of microwavable non-perishable lunches, protein bars, single serve cereals boxes, breakfast bars, chocolate milk, Gatorade, Capri Suns, and healthy individually wrapped snacks.

If you prefer to contribute to the pantry by donating your time, we are in need of volunteers! Please contact Ms. Julie Riley at jsriley@fcps.edu or Ms. Vicky Wuerfel at vkwuerfel@fcps.edu.

Croc Comp Update!

ICES PTA would like to thank EVERYONE for joining us at Spirit Nights over these last few months!
We would like to also thank CHILI’s, SILVER DINER, UNO’s and MOE’s for hosting us and showing us so much generosity! So far, we have fed our teachers on a few occasions… now it’s the kids’ turn!

Snuggle Up and Read

The Island Creek Elementary School PTA is excited to present to you a new event, Snuggle Up and Read, on January 11 from 6:30-8:00 PM at Island Creek! The “price” of admission is a new book(s) donation(s) to restock our classroom libraries. 

Please bring your cozy blankets, wear your comfy PJs and slippers, bring a stuffed animal as you wish, and each family member should bring a book or two to read. 

We will be serving free hot chocolate and will have some special guest readers throughout the evening!

Tiny Chefs Classes

Tiny Chefs! Winter 2019 Enrichment at Island Creek Elementary School

Come join us for our Winter session! At every Tiny Chefs class children learn how to measure, pour, mix and stir while being free to use their creativity.  Kids show a sense of pride when they can make something with their own hands. The objective of each class is to enhance confidence, skill and pride in each child as they prepare fun and tasty meals.  

Winter 2019 Theme:          Cooking Around the World

It is said that if you want to learn about a country you should start with the food. So during this session our Tiny and Gourmet Chefs will learn how to create the cuisines of multiple countries. We will be cooking up some of the fabulous flavors of Italian, Indian, Vietnamese, Mexican & French foods and also learning about some of the cooking techniques & ingredients that make them unique. Come join us as we expand our world and our palates!

Offering Classes For:

Wednesday Classes (K – 2nd grades): 01/09, 01/16, 01/23, 01/30, 02/06, 02/13, 02/20, 02/27
Thursday Classes (3rd – 6th grades): 01/10, 01/17, 01/24, 01/31, 02/07, 02/14, 02/21, 02/28

Holiday Market

On Saturday, December 8, 2018, from 10 AM -1 PM, the cafeteria will be transformed into a shopping experience for even our youngest students. This is an Island Creek favorite! Students, with the help of volunteers, will be able to purchase gifts and have them wrapped on site, keeping things a secret! Hot cocoa and candy canes will be provided for all those who participate. This is not a fundraiser! The PTA earns no money-we pass on inexpensive prices to you as a service event. Bring your kiddos and help them learn about gift giving and budgeting.

We will also be holding a holiday market for adults in attendance. While your kids are shopping in the holiday shop, why not check off your gift list with items from local businesses?

Fliers and budget envelopes will be sent home closer to the event.
