Dear Island Creek Family,
Greetings fellow CROCS! On behalf of the Island Creek Elementary School Parent Teacher
Association (ICES PTA) Board, I would like to extend a warm welcome to new and returning
families. We look forward to partnering with you as we work to serve our school and
community during the 2019-2020 school year.
My name is Richard Aviles. I’m a Navy officer and attorney stationed at the Washington Navy
Yard. My wife, Elizabeth, and I have two daughters, Isabella (5) and Natalie (3). Our oldest
daughter is starting kindergarten this fall. I’m honored to serve this year on the PTA board as
The purpose of the PTA is to support the faculty, staff, parents, and most especially our children
of ICES. Last year, your PTA helped to finance different school initiatives with the purpose of
enhancing your child’s learning experience while at ICES. Our goal is to continue to provide the
same benefit this year. With that in mind, your PTA has been busy this past summer, fine-tuning
programs and activities that will make this a fantastic year for our children, teachers and staff.
However, we cannot do it alone. We will once again ask for your support so that we can
continue making great strides that benefit our children and amazing school staff. Your
membership, your ideas, your time, your talents, and simply your voice is truly needed. The
PTA is absolutely a team effort that starts with each of you. Whatever level of participation you
select, your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
Please join us to make this an excellent year at ICES! Stay connected with all the latest
information regarding planned activities, events, volunteer opportunities and other news by
continuing to check our website (islandcreekpta.org) and following us on Facebook (Island
Creek Elementary School PTA).
I look forward to seeing you at the first PTA meeting on Tuesday, September 10th at 7:00pm
(children are always welcome). In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please
do not hesitate to contact us directly. Thank you for your support!
